Russ Barber is the owner-operator of The Balloon Bed & Breakfast and The Hudson Valley Balloon Port. The Hudson Valley Balloon Port is a FAA Certified Repair Station (ap IRO6K) where he is licensed to Repair and Annual Hot Air Balloons. Russell is a Commercial Hot Air Balloon Pilot and a Fixed Wing Private Pilot. Russ is a veteran pilot with over 28 years flying experience. Having flown over the opening ceremony of the 1980 Winter Olympics at Lake Placid and received special permission from the United States Park Service to inflated his balloon at the base of the Statue of Liberty for the 1977 Harbor Festival. Russ and Mike Ranieri flew in Saga Japan during the Fall of 2000 winning The Intercontinental Balloon Race against Japan and Canada. While in Japan Russ also carried the "I LOVE NY" banner. He returned the following year both as an Official Observer and as Pilot. |
